Bengals Position by Position Breakdown: Day #3 K
That’s right, its the least important position in the sport…wait..the Bengals know better than that. After watching Shayne “money” Graham miss numerous game winners or game tiers for the Bengals in the last few years Bengals fans are quick to see the importance of the Kicker position. Kickers are often criticized but they are commonly the deciding factor between a win and a loss. This year the Bengals kicking game is a huge question mark with the departure of Graham. Dave Rayner and Mike Nugent are competing for the starting job this year. Nugent is a veteran who used to be one of the best kickers in the league, but he has trailed off in recent seasons. Rayner has shown to be surprisingly accurate but the early favorite for the job is Mike Nugent as he has reportedly not missed a kick since the start of camp and has shown more range than Rayner. My assumption is the kicker spot could be a huge weak point but the Bengals also may have found themselves an amazing kicker if Nugent can return to his former self.
Starter- Mike Nugent
Cut/Practice Squad- Dave Rayner
